While not every member of the RTC Faculty can accept interns, there are limited internship opportunities to participate in RTC research activities through a number of programs.
Undergraduate and Postgraduate Programs
Research Experiences for Undergraduates
The REU Biological Research in Ecological and Evolutionary Developmental Biology (BREED) program places interns at RTC, SF State, and Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (SERC). PAID internship (National Science Foundation funded), application required.
Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) Teacher and Researcher (STAR) Program
The STAR Program is administered by Cal Poly San Luis Obispo's Center for Excellence in Science and Mathematics (CeSAME). Pre-service and early career STEM teachers have the opportunity to participate in research activities at RTC, SF State, and SERC. PAID internship, application required.
Undergraduate students from universities around the country may also join RTC researchers as UNPAID interns, with or without self-secured outside funding. Contact Outreach Coordinator Erin Blackwood to learn more.
High School Internships
High school students 15-17 may apply for UNPAID semester or summer internships with select researchers. Interested students should review our Faculty pages to learn about our research, and contact Erin Blackwood to learn more.
