| RTC Outreach |
| The Romberg Tiburon Center is committed to highlighting
the importance of marine environments to the public by sharing
our scientific expertise through education and outreach activities.
We reach a local audience ranging from children to adults,
students to teachers, in both formal and informal settings.
Outreach activities include: |
- our annual Discovery Day open house,
- professional development workshops for middle and high
school teachers (offered in partnership with SF Bay NERR),
- summer session classes offered through SFSU's College
of Extended Learning,
- talks by faculty members at local venues such as the
Belvedere Tiburon Library and community Rotary clubs,
and
- participation in school science fairs and high school
career days.
|
Additionally, all members of the RTC community participate
in local events such as beach clean-ups, Earth Day and many
other local and national environmental events.
Our ties and
partnerships to local organizations that share our mission
continue to evolve. We have a successful partnership with
the Bay Area Discovery Museum, and have recently partnered
with the Richardson Bay Audubon Center in an effort to expand
our reach to the local community.
Please contact Erin
Blackwood (415-338-3757)
our Outreach Coordinator, for more information
about RTC outreach. Erin always is working to:
|
- expand and develop the outreach program,
- develop working relationships with other Bay Area organizations
with ocean science literacy as a common goal, and
- find funding opportunities to support participation
of underrepresented community members.
