The Otter Bowl, a regional competition for the National Ocean Sciences Bowl, will be hosting 18 high school teams in an all day competition at Monterey Peninsula College, in Monterey, CA on Saturday, February 23rd, 2008*.  Over 100 students and coaches will be coming from schools in many locations around Northern California to compete.  In order to have the fun and rigorous competition run smoothly, many volunteers are needed.

There are a number of volunteer positions: Moderators (reads questions and keeps the competition running smoothly), Science Judges (addresses any challenges to the content of the questions and answers), Rules Judges (overseer of competition rules), Score Keepers, Time Keepers, Runners, Set-up and Clean-up folks and help during the training sessions. A great feeling that you have helped a lot of kids reach their goals of competing, getting to work with other ocean science enthusiasts, and your very own Otter Bowl T-Shirt!

Training will be provided on at least four different occasions:

Saturday, December 15, 9am-12:30 (1/2 day including team practice session for new volunteers, past volunteers welcome) at RTC in Marin County - light breakfast & lunch provided if desired.

Thursday, January 10 from 6:30-8:30 at Monterey Peninsula College - dinner provided.

Thursday, January 17 from 6:30-8:30 at Romberg Tiburon Center - dinner provided.

Saturday, February 9 from 12-3pm (review for volunteers and team practice session) at Monterey Peninsula College - lunch provided.
