NATIONAL OCEAN SCIENCES BOWL FINALS UPDATE! After two exciting days of competition against 24 other teams from around the country, Mission San Jose High School won Second Place at the National Ocean Sciences Bowl Finals, held in Seward, Alaska on April 26 & 27. The teams enjoyed a beautiful train ride from Anchorage to Seward, followed by a three-hour boat tour of Resurrection Bay, before settling in to the intense competition. During breaks, teams learned about polar ecology and played in the snow! We are very proud of our regional team’s performance. We are looking forward to next year’s Northern California Regional competition, now known as the Sea Lion Bowl, to be held at San Francisco State University in February 2009. If you’d like to get involved, please contact Erin Blackwood at erin70@sfsu.edu.”
