Research Experience for Undergraduates program at RTC

REU orientation

SF State and RTC are pleased to announce that the Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Biological Research in Ecological and Evolutionary Developmental Biology (BREED) program has been funded for another five years by the National Science Foundation (NSF) through 2021. This is a 10-week summer program in which students have the opportunity to participate in research activities at RTC and SF State.


Program Highlights

  • Individual research projects in one of ~20 faculty laboratories in the Departments of Biology at San Francisco State University and the Romberg Tiburon Center for Environmental Sciences
  • Integrated program of academic and professional development
  • 10 week program; one-week lab/lecture course and 9-weeks independent research
  • Weekly career development workshop
  • Mentoring from research faculty, graduate students, and peers
  • Opportunities to present research locally and at major science conferences
  • $5500 stipend
  • Assistance with living expenses and travel costs
  • Excursions and social programs highlighting attractions of the Bay Area
  • 3-day camping trip
  • 2017 program runs June 5-August 11
