Governance

The Romberg Tiburon Center for Environmental Studies (RTC) is governed by the administrative and decision making processes of the California State University and San Francisco State University. RTC is led by the Director, Dr. Karina J. Nielsen, who reports directly to Keith Bowman, Dean of the College of Science & Engineering (CoSE), and then to Jennifer Summit, Interim University Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at SF State. The Director is responsible for strategic planning and financial management of the Center, and works collaboratively with the Center's faculty, staff and SF State administrators to guide the Center's day-to-day operations, as well as plans for the future. The Director works in close collaboration with University Advancement and Michael Behrens, Director of Development for CoSE in community engagement, volunteer management and fundraising in support of the Center's strategic plan and vision for the future.
