SF State's bayside marine and estuarine research facility.

RTC is located in the town of Tiburon, Marin County, California on a 36-acre site that is fronted by SF Bay. The Center is unique in that it is the only academic research facility physically situated on San Francisco Bay.

Research Laboratories
The main RTC research building houses ten diverse laboratories, a Shared Molecular Facility (Gene Lab), the Keck Lab Classroom, Kern IT Classroom, and faculty and student offices. Offices and labs for the San Francisco Bay NERR are also located here. Additional laboratories are housed in two other buildings on site, and a waterfront greenhouse is used for wetland resarch. RTC's SF-BEAMS monitoring station and administrative offices are also located onsite, as is a maintenance and science support facility, where all RTC maintenance operations are coordinated and conducted.

Research Equipment
The Center's equipment is diverse and supports a broad range of on-site research activities.

Baywater System

The Baywater System provides San Francisco Bay water for RTC research needs. The water is collected at an intake pipe 300’ off the RTC seawall at a depth of approximately 40’. The water is delivered to several locations, including the greenhouse, adjacent tanks and water tables, and culture rooms in two laboratory buildings.

Conference Facilities and Lodging
The on-site location of the Bay Conference Center and Ohrenschall Guest House allow conferences and gathings of research groups to be held on the grounds of RTC.
